Der gewichtete Indikator der Kreditfinanzierungskosten für neue Kredite an Unternehmen sank aufgrund des Zinseffekts um 4 Basispunkte auf 5,06 %, während der entsprechende Indikator für neue Wohnungsbaukredite an private Haushalte weitgehend stabil bei 3,78 % lag.

Die Ersparnisbildung (netto) im Euroraum erhöhte sich in den vier Quartalen bis zum ersten Quartal 2024 auf 809 Mrd. € (nach 785 Mrd. € im Vorquartal).

Der Median der Wahrnehmung der Verbraucherinnen und Verbraucher bezüglich der Inflation in den vergangenen zwölf Monaten ging merklich zurück, während der Median ihrer Erwartungen bezüglich der Inflation in den kommenden zwölf Monaten sowie in drei Jahren unverändert blieb.

In the period from January to June 2024, the Bundesbank removed significantly more counterfeit money from circulation in Germany than in the six months prior, detecting around 38,600 counterfeit euro banknotes with a nominal value of €2.4 million. This was 29% more than in the second half of 2023. Meanwhile, the total loss arising from counterfeit banknotes was only slightly up, by just under 5%. The increase was driven by easily identifiable counterfeits, especially of €10 and €20 banknotes, said Burkhard Balz, the Bundesbank’s Executive Board member whose remit includes cash management.

The number of card payments has continued to grow steadily since the end of the pandemic. In 2023, it rose by almost 16 % on the previous year to 11.8 billion transactions.

EZB lädt Banken und andere Akteure ein, Kommentare hinsichtlich des Leitfadenentwurfs zu Governance und Risikokultur einzureichen. Leitfaden ersetzt den Bericht der Bankenaufsicht aus 2016, verdeutlicht aufsichtliche Erwartungen und informiert über bewährte Verfahren für die interne Governance der Banken. EZB erwartet, dass Banken ihre Governance-Standards weiter stärken. Konsultation endet am 16. Oktober 2024.

Deutschland befinde sich auf einem guten Weg in Richtung Preisstabilität, sagt Bundesbankpräsident Joachim Nagel in einem Interview im RTL Nachtjournal Spezial. Zwar sei das Inflationsziel von zwei Prozent noch nicht erreicht, die Preise seien Nagel zufolge aber signifikant gesunken. Im Interview spricht der Bundesbankpräsident außerdem über die wirtschaftliche Lage Deutschlands und die Herausforderungen, denen sich der Wirtschaftsstandort stellen müsse.

German economic output probably grew somewhat more slowly in the second quarter than expected, the Bundesbank writes in its latest Monthly Report. According to the Bundesbank, temporary hopes of an end to the weakness in the industrial sector were not realised, as industrial output declined sharply in May. In contrast to this, the recovery in the services sector continued, buoyed in part by private consumption. The inflation rate was somewhat lower again in June. Bundesbank economists believe that economic activity is likely to strengthen somewhat in the third quarter, but could fall a little short of the expectations expressed in the Bundesbank’s June forecast for Germany.
