Laut dem geprüften Jahresabschluss der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) für 2017 erhöhte sich der Jahresüberschuss um 82 Mio € auf 1 275 Mio €. Dafür waren vor allem höhere Nettozinserträge aus dem US-Dollar-Portfolio und dem Programm zum Ankauf von Vermögenswerten (Asset Purchase Progamme – APP) verantwortlich.
