Im April 2016 wies die Leistungsbilanz des Euro-Währungsgebiets einen Überschuss von 36,2 Mrd € auf. In der Kapitalbilanz waren bei den Direktinvestitionen und Wertpapieranlagen zusammengenommen ein Anstieg der Forderungen um 99 Mrd € und eine Abnahme der Verbindlichkeiten um 30 Mrd € zu verzeichnen.

Speaking at a symposium in Frankfurt, Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann told the audience that it was essential to repeatedly emphasise the importance of price stability in times of low inflation. Am 5. Juli wird sie der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt, im Frühjahr 2017 sollen die Verbraucher die neue 50-Euro-Banknote erstmals in den Händen halten. Mit ihr bringt das Eurosystem die vierte Stückelung der sogenannten Europa-Serie in den Umlauf.

Gemäß der Berichtspflichten der ESZB-Satzung wird von der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) wöchentlich ein konsolidierter Ausweis des Eurosystems veröffentlicht. Dieser soll den Nutzern als Informationsquelle im Zusammenhang mit den geldpolitischen Operationen, den Devisengeschäften und der Investitionstätigkeit dienen. Zudem sind darin Angaben über die Liquiditätsströme enthalten.
