New coated €20 banknotes to be brought into circulation from 2021 onwards

According to a statement made to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) news agency by the Executive Board member responsible for Cash, Johannes Beermann, over the course of 2021 the Bundesbank will begin issuing new €20 banknotes with a special coating that is designed to extend the lifespan of the banknotes.

The new €50 note enters circulation

Since 4 April, the new €50 banknote has been in circulation in all 19 member countries of the euro area. It represents the fourth banknote in the so-called “Europa series” that also comprises the new €5, €10 and €20 notes, all of which have now entered circulation.

Statement concerning technical central bank cooperation with Bangladesh
The Deutsche Bundesbank has shelved a prospective cooperative venture with the Central Bank of Bangladesh regarding counterfeit prevention until further notice. This decision was triggered by press reports that Bangladesh is planning to threaten to impose the death penalty for serious cases of counterfeiting.

Range of services for non-business clients
For non-business clients, the Bundesbank offers cash-related services for the settlement of small-scale transactions. However, given that the minimum requirements applicable for transactions effected by business clients do not apply to business clients, the range of cash-related services available to these customers is restricted.

New €100 and €200 banknotes to appear on 28 May

The European Central Bank and the national central banks of the Eurosystem began rolling out a second series of euro banknotes in May 2013. The last two denominations – the new €100 and €200 banknotes – will start circulating on 28 May 2019.

New €50 banknotes in circulation from 4 April Most important euro banknote denomination now even more counterfeit-proof
Starting on Tuesday, the Deutsche Bundesbank will be issuing the new €50 banknotes. Following on from the €5, €10 and €20 notes, the €50 note is now the fourth denomination of the new "Europa" series to be brought into circulation in Germany.

The course is designed for professionals involved in issuing and processing banknotes and coins or dealing with counterfeit money as well as those relatively new to these tasks or wanting to expand their knowledge – especially in developing countries and emerging economies. Participants should have some background in cash management.
