Jedes Zahlungsinstrument habe Vor- und Nachteile, sagte er bei einer Veranstaltung in Gmund am Tegernsee. Der Forderung nach einer Abschaffung von Banknoten und Münzen erteilte Thiele eine Absage. Dies würde die Souveränität der Konsumenten verletzen, sagte er.

The objective of the monetary policy decisions taken by the Governing Council of the ECB is to ensure price stability – the main aim of the Eurosystem’s monetary policy.
