Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann says that sovereign debt in banks' balance sheets needs to be backed by capital, just like private debt. In a speech at Sciences Po in Paris, he added that it is perhaps even more important "to put a lid on banks' exposures to a single sovereign". The large exposure regime "needs to apply to bank lending to sovereigns as well," Mr Weidmann said.

Gemäß der Berichtspflichten der ESZB-Satzung wird von der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) wöchentlich ein konsolidierter Ausweis des Eurosystems veröffentlicht. Dieser soll den Nutzern als Informationsquelle im Zusammenhang mit den geldpolitischen Operationen, den Devisengeschäften und der Investitionstätigkeit dienen. Zudem sind darin Angaben über die Liquiditätsströme enthalten.

Neue 20-€-Banknote wird morgen in Umlauf gebracht

Around 150 data producers, policy makers and academics discussed the future of statistics at the high-level, two-day conference, which was hosted by the Bundesbank.

Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann has been awarded the International Prize of the Hayek Foundation. The award was mainly in recognition of Mr Weidmann's commitment to stability-oriented monetary policymaking by central banks and his opposition to excessive government debt.
