The securities holdings statistics provide a picture of the structure of securities held in Germany.

Nach Berücksichtigung gestiegener Tilgungen und der Eigenbestandsveränderungen der Emittenten nahm der Umlauf inländischer Rentenpapiere um 13,0 Mrd € ab (Juni: Nettoemissionen in Höhe von 12,7 Mrd €).

Germany’s current account posted a surplus of €5.0 billion in July 2022, down €9.3 billion on the previous month’s level. This was primarily caused by the shift into a deficit in invisible current transactions, which comprise services as well as primary and secondary income. There was also a smaller surplus in goods trading.

Bundesbankpräsident Joachim Nagel hat weitere Zinsschritte zur Bekämpfung der Inflation gefordert. Die jüngste Leitzinserhöhung der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) um 0,75 Punkte sei ein klares Zeichen gewesen. The securities markets programme (SMP), which was announced by the ECB Governing Council on 10 May 2010 and then terminated through its decision of 6 September 2012, as well as the two covered bond purchase programmes of 2009 and 2011 (CBPP and CBPP2) have been terminated. On 6 September 2012, the ECB Governing Council also announced a series of technical features for outright monetary transactions (OMTs) in secondary sovereign bond markets. Purchases are not currently being made.

Der EZB-Rat hat heute beschlossen, die drei Leitzinssätze der EZB um jeweils 75 Basispunkte anzuheben.
