What are the requirements that a digital euro needs to meet? This is a question explored in the latest edition of the Bundesbank’s Monthly Report. After outlining the opportunities and risks presented by digital money, the Bank’s experts conclude that any solutions will need to be well-designed, secure and convenient.

The statistical series have been published since April 2020 and replace the Statistical Supplements as well as the data-related Special Statistical Publications. They contain compilations of tables and charts depicting important specialist statistics.

Germany’s outward immediate and indirect foreign direct investment (FDI) was up by €48 billion at the end of 2019 to €1,372 billion. The ranking of individual recipient countries remained broadly unchanged: almost 30%, or €391 billion worth, of all German FDI went to the United States, which was once again number one.
