Head of Innovation and Digitalisation (m/w/d)

In the Directorate General Strategy and Innovation, we actively contribute to shaping the future of the Bundesbank. Our focus is on comprehensive, forward-looking strategy development and its implementation. In the InnoWerk team, we promote innovation holistically by conducting exploratory projects on new trends and technologies. We work closely with the other areas of the Bundesbank as well as a diverse national and international ecosystem (e.g. the BIS Innovation Hub).

We are looking for a visionary and dynamic leader to head the Bank’s creative innovation team. In this key role, you will actively contribute to shaping the Bundesbank’s future and help position the Bank as a pioneer of innovation and digitalisation in the Eurosystem.

Valuable work: your role with us

  • You will lead the “InnoWerk – Innovation and Digitalisation” team, managing a unit of around 20 people.
  • This role will see you become part of the Directorate General’s agile leadership team and contribute to its strategic development.
  • You will support your team in identifying and evaluating relevant trends and in promoting and implementing innovations.
  • You will gather insights and explore promising areas for innovation, feeding that knowledge into the Bank and supporting other business units in their exploration of innovative solutions and methods.
  • Your area of responsibility, InnoWerk, has premises that provide a safe space for testing out new ways of working and making them a reality.
  • In addition, you will represent your business area in internal and external bodies and networks.

Unique assets: your skills and qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a field relevant to the position (e.g. economics, STEM)
  • At least five years of professional experience in the field of innovation management (especially in developing and implementing digitalisation and/or innovation projects), ideally combined with experience in the financial sector
  • Very good knowledge of digital technologies in the financial sector (e.g. fintech innovations)
  • Extensive experience with innovation methods and agile methods (e.g. design thinking, scrum, OKRs)
  • Strong leadership skills, demonstrated by – ideally extensive – management experience
  • Capacity to think strategically and act in a solutions-oriented manner
  • Excellent powers of persuasion and ability to drive innovation
  • Strong intercultural skills
  • Very good communication skills in German and English

Remuneration and prospects

Future-oriented public sector job offering reliable working conditions, permanent contract, international working environment, opportunity to maintain existing civil servant status (up to B 3), remuneration outside the agreed pay scales in line with pay grade B 3 plus a bank allowance
