Der Rat der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) hat heute befristete Maßnahmen beschlossen, um die Auswirkungen von Rating-Herabstufungen, die sich als wirtschaftliche Folge der Covid-19-Pandemie ergeben könnten, auf die Verfügbarkeit von Sicherheiten abzuschwächen.

Die Europäische Zentralbank (EZB) und die Българска народна банка (Bulgarische Nationalbank) sind übereingekommen, ein vorsorgliches Währungsabkommen (Swap-Vereinbarung) abzuschließen, um Liquidität in Euro bereitzustellen.

“The coronavirus pandemic and the measures taken to contain it have plunged the German economy into a severe recession,” according to the Bundesbank’s latest Monthly Report. At present, it is all but impossible to tell with any degree of certainty how large the decline in overall economic activity will eventually be, the Monthly Report states

Bundesbank Executive Board member Johannes Beermann has indicated that the risk of picking up coronavirus via cash is extremely minimal. In a press briefing at the Bundesbank, Mr Beermann noted that “the probability of becoming ill from handling cash is smaller than from many other objects used in everyday life”.

Households’ financial assets rose by €126 billion to around €6.5 trillion in the fourth quarter of 2019. Valuation gains were the main reason for this increase. Households also increased their holdings of currency, deposits, investment fund shares and claims on insurance corporations.
