Cash Electronic Data Interchange (CashEDI)
With CashEDI the Deutsche Bundesbank offers its customers the possibility of carrying out transactions electronically using standardised electronic data exchanges. On the basis of GS1 international logistical standards, it is possible for professional cash handlers to electronically exchange cash-related data, such as lodgement notifications and cash orders, among themselves as well as with the Bundesbank. The Bundesbank issues a transaction-specific electronic message each time a cash payment is accepted and counted. This improves the transparency, security and also the efficiency of cash payment operations.
From 1 January 2013, it will be compulsory to carry out payment transactions electronically.Participation in the specialised CashEDI procedure is only possible following prior registration using the customer data reporting form (only available in German).
