In additon to its central office in Frankfurt am Main, the Bundesbank is represented by its head offices in nine cities. They have in turn 35 branches.

Helmut Schlesinger was president of Germany’s central bank from 1991 to 1993 and is considered a guardian of the culture of stability. This was a culture he established not just within the Bundesbank, but throughout society, Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel writes in an op-ed article in the business daily “Börsen-Zeitung”.

With effect from Monday, 2 September 2024, Dr Sabine Mauderer was appointed First Deputy Governor of the Bundesbank. Furthermore, Lutz Lienenkämper and Michael Theurer joined the Bundesbank’s Executive Board. The responsibilities within the Executive Board have therefore been reallocated. The following reallocation of responsibilities comes into effect

As part of the Bundesbank Invited Speaker Series, Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel discussed economic resilience, i.e. adaptability, with economics professor Markus Brunnermeier. One question they considered was whether an effective and rule-based monetary policy can be adaptable. The event was moderated by Falko Fecht, head of the Bundesbank’s Research Centre.

Der gewichtete Indikator der Kreditfinanzierungskosten für neue Kredite an Unternehmen lag weitgehend stabil bei 5,06 %, während der entsprechende Indikator für neue Wohnungsbaukredite an private Haushalte aufgrund des Zinseffekts um 4 Basispunkte auf 3,75 % sank.
