Der Rat der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) hat sich auf eine neue geldpolitische Strategie verständigt. Kern der Strategie ist ein neues Inflationsziel. Künftig zielt der EZB-Rat auf eine Inflationsrate von mittelfristig 2 Prozent ab. Die neue Strategie enthält darüber hinaus Eckpunkte zur Berücksichtigung von Klimarisiken.

„Die deutsche Wirtschaftsleistung nahm im zweiten Quartal 2021 wohl wieder kräftig zu“, heißt es im jüngsten Monatsbericht der Bundesbank. Die Fachleute gehen davon aus, dass die deutsche Wirtschaft damit den herben Rückschlag, den sie im Winterquartal aufgrund der umfassenden Pandemie-Schutzmaßnahmen erlitten hatte, in etwa wettmachen konnte. Insbesondere der Dienstleistungssektor habe zu der deutlichen Erholung beigetragen. Die Inflationsrate dürfte im weiteren Jahresverlauf steigen.

Financial assets grew by €192 billion to €7,143 billion in the first quarter of 2021, exceeding the €7 trillion mark for the first time ever. Additionally to increases related to the purchase of financial assets, this growth was driven in particular by valuation gains on shares and investment fund shares. 

The Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB) has decided today to launch the investigation phase of a digital euro project. Following the decision, the President of the Eurogroup Paschal Donohoe joined the meeting, congratulated the Governing Council and expressed his full support for the project.
