The German government has decided to mint a €2 commemorative coin entitled “Konrad Adenauer” scheduled to be issued on 8 January 2026. The coin is in honour of Konrad Adenauer (1876–1967), the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is the second coin to be issued in the “Unity and Justice and Freedom” series. Each year, a new €2 commemorative coin honouring politicians whose actions particularly shaped the history of the Federal Republic of Germany will be issued.

The branches of the Bundesbank supply the economy with euro banknotes and coins, and offers private customers the opportunity to exchange D-Mark banknotes and coins free-of-charge and with no fixed deadline.

NExt is the abbreviation for “ExtraNet new concept”. It replaces ExtraNet as Bundesbank’s central file exchange platform. In the NExt portal, customers are provided with various basic services, such as the secure submission and collection of files as well as a secure, simple dialogue function.

The Counterfeit Money Unit's task is to examine and store counterfeit money of any currency which is seized in Germany or confiscated by the police. We also check the authenticity of payment cards, securities, traveller's cheques and gold and silver coins which are legal tender. Another focal point of our work is to prevent the circulation of counterfeit money.
