Die Anzahl der Kreditinstitute mit Sitz in der EU ging leicht von 3 167 Instituten im Dezember 2016 auf 3 154 im März 2017 zurück. Die Summe der Aktiva dieser Kreditinstitute erhöhte sich um 1,7 % von 33 410 Mrd € im vierten Quartal 2016 auf 33 982 Mrd € im ersten Quartal 2017.
