Bundesbank Executive Board member Andreas Dombret believes that banks should embrace digital change to create business models that will give the banking industry greater long-term stability. These models should unfailingly be centred on customers’ needs.

Gemäß der Berichtspflichten der ESZB-Satzung wird von der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) wöchentlich ein konsolidierter Ausweis des Eurosystems veröffentlicht. Dieser soll den Nutzern als Informationsquelle im Zusammenhang mit den geldpolitischen Operationen, den Devisengeschäften und der Investitionstätigkeit dienen. Zudem sind darin Angaben über die Liquiditätsströme enthalten.

Die Jahreswachstumsrate der weit gefassten Geldmenge M3 blieb im September 2015 mit 4,9 % auf dem Stand des Vormonats. Die jährliche Änderungsrate des enger gefassten Geldmengenaggregats M1, welches den Bargeldumlauf und täglich fällige Einlagen beinhaltet, stieg von 11,5 % im August auf 11,7 % im Berichtsmonat. Die Jahreswachstumsrate der Buchkredite an private Haushalte lag im September bei 1,1 % nach 1,0 % im August. Die Vorjahrsrate der Buchkredite an nichtfinanzielle Kapitalgesellschaften sank im September auf 0,1 % gegenüber 0,4 % im Vormonat.

Bundesbank says the Germany economy remains on a strong growth path. In its October Monthly Report the Bundesbank concludes that Germany’s upswing continued in the third quarter, though it may have temporarily lost some steam.

Since the outbreak of the financial and economic crisis, nominal interest rates, particularly on bank deposits, have fallen to historically low levels. This has affected German households in particular, which traditionally hold a significant portion of their financial assets in the form of these deposits. Some are therefore publicly questioning the wisdom of saving in the first place.
