This year, the Deutsche Bundesbank will be celebrating its 60th anniversary. The legislation which brought it into being, the Bundesbank Act (Gesetz über die Deutsche Bundesbank), was signed into law on 26 July 1957 by the Federal President.

The Deutsche Bundesbank was founded on 1 August 1957. For sixty years it has ensured a stable currency. In 2017, the Bundesbank is commemorating this anniversary with a variety of public events.

Die Leistungsbilanz des Euro-Währungsgebiets wies in den vier Quartalen bis zum dritten Quartal 2016 einen Überschuss in Höhe von 344,0 Mrd € (3,2 % des BIP im Euroraum) auf. Für den Auslandsvermögensstatus des Eurogebiets wurden Ende des dritten Quartals 2016 Nettoverbindlichkeiten in Höhe von 0,9 Billionen € (rund 8 % des BIP im Eurogebiet) verzeichnet.

Um ihr Haupthaus umfassend sanieren zu können, sucht die Bundesbank vorübergehend nach einem Ausweichquartier. In Frage kommen Objekte in Frankfurt am Main mit einer Mietfläche ab 35.000 Quadratmeter. Der Umzug ist für Ende 2019 geplant.

The year 2016 saw Germany's economy grow at its fastest rate in five years. Initial Federal Statistical Office calculations indicate that real gross domestic product rose by 1.9% on the year and that consumption was the chief source of growth.
