Am 13. Juni 2016 folgten hochrangige Vertreter aus Wirtschaft, Gesellschaft und Wissenschaft der Einladung zum dritten Bargeldsymposium in Frankfurt am Main, um über das Thema Bargeld zu diskutieren. Das Bargeldsymposium der Deutschen Bundesbank findet als Forum für professionelle Bargeldakteure alle zwei Jahre statt.

Persistently low interest rates are depressing German credit institutions' profitability – this is revealed in a survey undertaken by the Bundesbank and the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). The banks will have to subject the sustainability of their business model to critical analysis.

The June 2018 edition of the Bundesbank's Monthly Report outlines the prospects for the German economy on the basis of macroeconomic projections for 2018 and 2019, with a look ahead at the year 2020. It also includes an article on the zero lower bound on interest rates, the inflation rate target and the anchoring of inflation expectations.

The macro-financial environment has deteriorated substantially over the course of 2022. It has been shaped by subdued growth prospects, high inflation as well as rising interest rates and risk premia.

The conference volume comprises a wide range of multifaceted papers addressing different aspects of cash, that were presented and discussed at the International Cash Conference in February 2012.

The July 2020 Monthly Report looks at the German current account surplus through the lens of macroeconomic models and examines the extent to which German households store cash, as well as their reasons for doing so.

The October 2021 edition of the Monthly Report contains an article on state government finances in 2020 from the perspective of the temporary impact of the pandemic on the deficit situation and the effect of escape clauses on the building of reserves. Another topic discussed is the development of the global economy during the coronavirus pandemic. The question of how households in Germany view the digital euro is also addressed, with a presentation of initial survey results and interviews. The report additionally features an article on the regulation of remuneration in credit institutions.
