The main business is the monetary policy of the Eurosystem. Other responsibilities include the financial and monetary system, banking supervision,payment systems and cash management.

In additon to its central office in Frankfurt am Main, the Bundesbank is represented by its head offices in nine cities. They have in turn 35 branches.

Die Europäische Zentralbank (EZB) hat heute eine Studie zu den Umweltauswirkungen der Euro-Banknoten als Zahlungsmittel veröffentlicht. Demnach beliefen sich die mit Banknotenzahlungen verbundenen Umweltauswirkungen im Jahr 2019 auf durchschnittlich 101 Mikropunkte (µPt) je Person im Euroraum.
