And I think this generation here has a vital role to play in that, said Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel at the two-day international conference “Young Factor” held in Milan by the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori with the aim of improving financial literacy. Over 350 school pupils attended this year’s event to discuss financial literacy and the European Union with the governors of several Eurosystem central banks. 

The strategy sets out in a binding manner how the Bundesbank intends to fulfil its mandate and forms the basis for its new steering model.

Many people in Germany are open to the idea of the digital euro. At the same time, there are still gaps in the general public’s knowledge about the planned new means of payment. These are the results of a recent representative survey of 2,012 people conducted by forsa, a market research and opinion polling company, on behalf of the Deutsche Bundesbank in April 2024.
