Im Einklang mit dem starken Bekenntnis des EZB-Rats zu seinem Preisstabilitätsmandat hat der EZB-Rat heute weitere wichtige Schritte ergriffen, um sicherzustellen, dass die Inflation mittelfristig auf seinen Zielwert von 2 % zurückkehrt. Er hat beschlossen, die drei Leitzinssätze der EZB um jeweils 50 Basispunkte anzuheben. Darüber hinaus hat er das Instrument zur Absicherung der Transmission (Transmission Protection Instrument – TPI) genehmigt.

Cash continues to be the most frequently used means of payment in Germany, although cashless payments are increasing their share. These are the findings of the Bundesbank’s sixth study on payment behaviour in Germany for 2021. Respondents used banknotes and coins to make a total of 58% of their payments for purchases of goods and services, compared with 74% in the Bundesbank’s last major study from 2017. The lower use of cash was mainly due to the increase in online purchases during the coronavirus pandemic.

Die Leistungsbilanz wies im Mai 2022 ein Defizit von 4 Mrd € auf, ebenso wie im Vormonat. Der Leistungsbilanzüberschuss belief sich in den zwölf Monaten bis Mai 2022 auf 138 Mrd € (1,1 % des BIP des Euroraums), verglichen mit 352 Mrd € (3,0 % des BIP des Euroraums) im Zwölfmonatszeitraum bis Mai 2021.
