The Deutsche Bundesbank is the independent central bank of Germany. Its core business area is the monetary policy of the Eurosystem. Besides this, however, the Bundesbank performs a number of other important tasks. The following animation film gives an overview.

Die Wirtschaft des Euroraums erholt sich weiter kräftig, wenngleich die Dynamik dieser Entwicklung etwas nachgelassen hat. Allerdings wird die Produktion in einigen Sektoren durch Engpässe bei Material, Ausrüstung und Arbeitskräften gebremst. 

Der EZB-Rat ist weiterhin der Auffassung, dass günstige Finanzierungsbedingungen auch dann aufrechterhalten werden können, wenn der Umfang des Nettoerwerbs von Vermögenswerten im Rahmen des Pandemie-Notfallankaufprogramms gegenüber dem zweiten und dritten Quartal dieses Jahres moderat reduziert wird.
 

The Central Bank Council of the Bank deutscher Länder and its successor authority, the Bundesbank, was almost exclusively a men’s-only club: from 1948 until it was replaced by the Executive Board in the aftermath of the structural reform in 2002, only one woman – Julia Dingwort-Nusseck – managed to become a member of this body. On this Wednesday, 6 October 2021, she celebrates her 100th birthday in Hamburg. She is the oldest ever former member of the Central Bank Council.
