The Bundesbank registered approximately 63,000 counterfeit euro banknotes with a nominal value of €3.3 million in 2014, which represents a 63 % increase year on year. Statistically, this equates to eight counterfeit banknotes per 10,000 inhabitants.

Die Deutsche Bundesbank gewährt wieder einen Blick hinter die Kulissen. Am 14. und 15. September lädt die Notenbank Bürgerinnen und Bürger auf das Gelände ihrer Hauptverwaltung in Hessen in der Frankfurter Innenstadt ein. 

In the first half of 2017, the Bundesbank registered around 39,700 counterfeit euro banknotes with a nominal value of €2.2 million – 8.7% more than in the second half of 2016. The most frequently counterfeited denomination was the €50 banknote.

In the first half of 2018, the Bundesbank registered approximately 31,100 counterfeit euro banknotes with a nominal value of €1.8 million – 6.2% fewer than in the previous six months. The most frequently counterfeited denomination was the €50 banknote.

In 2016, the Deutsche Bundesbank registered approximately 82,200 counterfeit euro banknotes with a nominal value of €4.2 million, which represents a 14 % decrease year on year. Statistically, this equates to ten counterfeit banknotes per 10,000 inhabitants.

In 2017, the Bundesbank registered around 73,000 counterfeit euro banknotes with a nominal value of €4.1 million – 11% fewer than in the previous year. The number of counterfeit €20 banknotes declined in particular.

In the first half of 2014, the Bundesbank registered a total of just under 25,000 counterfeit euro banknotes with a nominal value of €1.5 million. This means that the number of counterfeits was up 27% on the second half of 2013. This equates statistically to six counterfeit banknotes per 10,000 inhabitants. Despite this increase, the number of counterfeit banknotes found in circulation is not a cause for concern.

Die Bundesbank hat im Jahr 2013 rund 39.000 falsche Euro-Banknoten im Nennwert von 2,1 Millionen Euro registriert. Die Zahl der Fälschungen sank gegenüber dem Vorjahr (41.500) um rund 6 %. Rein rechnerisch ent­fielen damit fünf falsche Banknoten auf 10.000 Einwohner.

Die Bundesbank hat im Jahr 2011 rund 39.000 falsche Euro-Banknoten registriert. Die Zahl der Fälschungen ist damit gegenüber dem Vorjahr um über ein Drittel gesunken.
