General From 13 February 1950 to 3 May 1953, foreign-exchange conversion rates of the Bank deutscher Länder (the predecessor of the Deutsche Bundesbank). From 4 May 1953 to 30 December 1998, official quotation on the Frankfurt exchange (difference between buying or selling rate and middle rate in DEM: 0.0010 up to the end of December 1959, 0.100 up to the end of August 1978, 0.080 up to the end of 1993, 0.060 since 1994). Currency conversion with effect from 1 January 1960: 100 French francs = 1 French new franc, designated as French franc since 1 January 1963. For technical reasons, the exchange rates from 1 January 1960 were extended from three to four decimal places. From 1 January 1999, irrevocable euro conversion rate: EUR 1 = FRF 6.55957.
