Automated Functional Testing – Methods and Best Practices for Central Bank IT Systems
Objective
Automated functional testing has become a key component in the quality assurance process, enabling central banks to detect issues early, reduce operational risks, and accelerate innovation across a wide range of applications – from core banking platforms and regulatory reporting to general-purpose tools, dedicated expert applications, and workflow management.
This course provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to automated functional testing in the context of central bank IT systems. Topics and case studies will be presented from the Bundesbank’s perspective, complemented by participant presentations on national experiences and solutions. This ensures a balanced exchange of expertise and practical insights throughout the course.
Participants will gain practical insights into test automation frameworks, best practices for adapting test cases for automation (such as ensuring repeatability and robust data management), and the integration of automated testing into the software development life cycle. The course further addresses the specific challenges of test automation, from technical hurdles to documentation and auditability requirements.
Active participation in discussions and practical exercises is expected.
