Objective

Participants will have the opportunity to gain an inside view of how the Bundesbank has organised its activities to combat counterfeiting. The course will serve as a platform for discussions with experts from the Bundesbank and among the invited experts. Participants will share their experience while highlighting new trends and current challenges.

• Organisation of the National Analysis Centre
• Practical issues: getting a feel for the experts’ day-to-day work
• Discussion forum on new trends and current challenges
• Sharing experience: technical cooperation among central banks as a key factor in implementing specific projects
• Group work on specific topics and hands-on exercises with technical equipment
• Presentation of national perspectives in the fight against counterfeiting of money
• Counterfeit coins

Target group

This course is designed for experienced members of central bank anti-counterfeiting units who require an in-depth understanding of effective techniques to combat counterfeit currency. Active participation is a key component of the program, and attendees will be encouraged to contribute to discussions and present their own topics or case studies.

Participants are expected to prepare a 15-minute presentation outlining the counterfeiting landscape in their respective countries, with a focus on the following aspects:

• The organization and structure of anti-counterfeiting activities
• The current state of counterfeiting in their country
• Major challenges faced in combating counterfeiting
• Their vision and strategic outlook for the future
