Internship in the field macroeconometric model of the German economy in Directorate General Economics

The business unit belongs to the division responsible for analysing and forecasting macroeconomic developments in Germany. The semi-structural macroeconometric model is used in the forecasting process, as well as for simulation analyses.

Valuable work: your role with us

  • You will calculate the import dependence of aggregate demand components for Germany (calculated using information from input-output tables and other analyses, e.g. using the results to model import demand).
  • You will estimate a vector autoregressive model for the German economy as the basis for modelling the formation of expectations in a larger semi-structural model.
  • You will help to expand the model to include financial market components.
  • In addition, you will assist your colleagues in the business unit with their day-to-day tasks.

Unique assets: your skills and qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD students in economics, (business) mathematics, or similar
  • Very sound knowledge of macroeconomics and standard macroeconometric methods
  • Interest in working with macroeconometric models, especially semi-structural models
  • Experience in programming in Matlab; knowledge of Dynare would be an advantage
  • Very good command of written and spoken German or English
