The President of the Federal Republic of Germany has appointed Dr Jens Weidmann as President of the Deutsche Bundesbank for a period of eight years as from 1 May 2011. Federal President Christian Wulff presented the certificate of appointment today in Berlin. Professor Dr Axel A Weber, who has served as President of the Deutsche Bundesbank since 30 April 2004, simultaneously received his certificate of dismissal.
