Ingrid Herden to succeed Michael Best

Ingrid Herden, who will be joining the Bundesbank in June, will be taking over as Director General Communications and the President’s spokesperson on 1 October 2022 from Michael Best, who is leaving the Bundesbank at the end of September after 11 years of service.

61-year-old social scientist Ingrid Herden has a pedigree in business media and previously served as spokesperson for the Finance Ministry of North Rhine-Westphalia, for the City of Düsseldorf, the state capital, and, most recently, for the party executive of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD).

In her new role, Ingrid Herden will be responsible for the Bundesbank’s external and internal communications and will report to President Joachim Nagel.
