2021 – “On the water” €10 collector coin with blue cupronickel ring
The issue of the mint condition 5 and 10 euro collector coins “Climate Zones – Polar climate zone” and “Moved by air – Waterborne” is expected to take place from 9th September 2021.
The collector quality coins with a proof-like finish will be distributed by “Münze Deutschland” to their customers as usually.
This coin is the third and final to be issued in the “Air Moves” series, which began in 2019 and focuses on young and dynamic trend sports in which participants are moved solely by the force of the air or wind.
The €10 collector coin “On the water” has a cupronickel core, a blue, niobium-plated cupronickel ring and a translucent polymer ring between the two metal components. It weighs 9.8 g, has a diameter of 28.75 mm and will be available both in mint condition and with a proof-like finish.
The picture side of the coin was designed by Munich artist Daniel Engelberg. The reverse side, which is identical on all the coins in this series, was designed by Berlin artist Andre Witting.
The picture side depicts the key elements of modern windsurfing in expressive, broad strokes. The sails of the group of surfing athletes are interwoven with the waves. The visual weight of the composition from right to left in the background of the coin emphasises their speed on the water. The stylised portrayal creates great transparency and depth. The motif is perfectly integrated into the three different segments of the polymer ring coin.
The reverse features an eagle framed by the words “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND”, the value and denomination, the year 2021, the twelve stars of Europe and the mint mark “A” (Berlin), “D” (Munich), “F” (Stuttgart), “G” (Karlsruhe) or “J” (Hamburg), depending on where the coin was minted. The edge of the coin is smooth and has no structure.
