Bundesbank Spring Conference 2016

The focus of the Spring Conference 2016, which is to be held at the Bundesbank's Training and Conference Centre in Eltville am Rhein on 10 and 11 June, will be on the interaction between monetary, financial and fiscal policy. This high-level event is being organised by the German central bank (Bundesbank).

Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann will open the conference on 10 June with an introductory speech before the international conference participants. An array of presentations by renowned academics and central bankers are on the agenda. These presentations will touch on subjects such as credit risk protection, the structure of central bank balance sheets and the contagion risks for the banking sector resulting from sovereign defaults. Amongst the speakers are representatives of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Bank of Canada, Sveriges Riksbank and the European Central Bank. In addition, several academics, including economists from the London School of Economics, Harvard Business School and University of Michigan, will be in attendance.

In a panel discussion on 10 June, to be moderated by Princeton University's Markus K Brunnermeier, Claudia Buch (Vice-President of the Bundesbank) Vítor Constâncio (Vice-President of the ECB) and Philip Lane (Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland) will discuss the challenges currently faced by central banks.
