Opening of “Campus Deutsche Bundesbank” exhibition to be streamed online
The German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt am Main will be exhibiting draft designs for the new campus of the Bundesbank’s Central Office from 16 July to 18 October 2020. Entitled “Campus Deutsche Bundesbank”, the exhibition displays all the submissions pitched in the recently concluded international architectural competition. The exhibition was opened on 15 July 2020 with a virtual press conference.
German banks tightened their credit standards and lending conditions again in the second quarter of 2020. While there was a sharp rise in demand for loans to enterprises, demand for loans for house purchase fell for the first time since 2017. This is shown by the results of a survey of German banks’ lending, which is conducted four times a year.
“Entire sectors have taken an enormous hit from the crisis”
In an interview with the German newspaper “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, Bundesbank Vice-President Claudia Buch notes that, as a result of the extensive crisis packages, the problems faced by enterprises have barely reached the banking sector so far. “However, we should increasingly expect them to do so in the second half of the year. Credit defaults will then start to weigh more heavily on banks’ balance sheets and capital,” she explains.
German Financial Stability Committee publishes Annual Report 2020
Today, the German Financial Stability Committee (G-FSC) presented its seventh report to the German Bundestag. The report shows that the committee focused primarily on the risk of underestimating credit risk, the low interest rate environment and real estate markets.
