It is the sixth coin issued as part of the “Wonderful world of insects” series, which will see a total of nine coins with partially coloured motifs issued over the period 2022-24.

The entry into force of the German Financial Stability Act (Finanzstabilitätsgesetz) at the beginning of 2013 gave macroprudential surveillance in Germany a legal basis. The macroprudential forum in Germany is the German Financial Stability Committee (Ausschuss für Finanzstabilität or AFS).

In cooperation with the Dutch and Swedish central banks, the Bundesbank invited participants to an international conference on macroprudential topics. This year’s event in Eltville am Rhein addressed issues such as tackling interest rate risk, capital buffers for banks and non-standard monetary policy. The keynote speaker was Tobias Adrian of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Since 2014, the European Central Bank has been responsible for supervising the particularly significant banks in Germany. Joint teams from the ECB and the national supervisory authorities carry out operational supervision.

The €5 collectors' coin with a red plastic ring was issued in April 2017. It was minted on behalf of the German government and is the first in a five-part series, “Climate zones of the Earth” (2017-21).
