The branches of the Bundesbank supply the economy with euro banknotes and coins, and offers private customers the opportunity to exchange D-Mark banknotes and coins free-of-charge and with no fixed deadline.

Die Europäische Zentralbank (EZB) hat heute Empfehlungen veröffentlicht, die eine vom EZB-Rat eingesetzte, hochrangig besetzte Taskforce ausgearbeitet hat. Diese hatte den Auftrag, Vorschläge zur Vereinfachung der europäischen Rahmenwerke für das Aufsichtsrecht, die Bankaufsicht und das Meldewesen zu erarbeiten.

Overall, our existing rules for banking regulation are not too onerous. But they can be fragmented, complicated and sometimes contradictory. This is what we are addressing with the High-Level Task Force proposals, said Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel upon publication of the report by the European Central Bank’s High-Level Task Force on Simplification. The report contains 17 recommendations on how to simplify the Eurosystem’s regulatory and supervisory framework.
