    The German economy will experience a setback in the final quarter of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022 on account of the pandemic, but is set to pick up significant momentum again in the second quarter of next year. “The upswing has been slightly delayed,” said Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann at the presentation of his institution’s current projections. In addition, the Bank’s experts anticipate that the inflation rate will remain high at first, only gradually decreasing towards 2%.

    Jens Fuhrmann has been the Bundesbank’s representative at the German embassy in Beijing since the end of 2018. He has worked at the Bundesbank since 1991. He has been a branch manager in Cologne, Wuppertal, Dresden and Chemnitz. Most recently, Jens Fuhrmann spent twelve years as an expert adviser in the field of cash management and payment systems at the CIC.

    Bundesbankpräsident Joachim Nagel geht davon aus, dass die Inflation auch im kommenden Jahr hoch bleiben und erst 2024 merklich zurückgehen wird. „Wir sehen die Inflationsrate in Deutschland im Jahresdurchschnitt 2023 bei etwa sieben Prozent“, sagte Nagel im Interview mit dem Magazin Stern. Im Jahr 2024 werde sie dann deutlich niedriger sein. „Aber es bleibt eine Durststrecke. Deshalb setzen wir unseren geldpolitischen Kurs entschlossen fort.“
