Robust economic growth in Germany is set to continue, the Bundesbank’s experts write in the current Monthly Report, as indicated by the favourable order situation in industry and construction as well as the positive sentiment in the German economy and among households.

Am 17. Mai 2017 billigte der EZB-Rat die Veröffentlichung des "Financial Stability Review – Mai 2017". In diesem Bericht werden die Hauptrisiken für die Stabilität und mögliche Schwachstellen des Finanzsystems im Eurogebiet untersucht, und es wird eine umfassende Analyse dazu angestellt, inwieweit das Finanzsystem des Euroraums Schocks auffangen kann. Der Bericht soll am 24. Mai 2017 auf der Website der EZB veröffentlicht werden.

Growing numbers of consumers in Germany are using electronic payment methods, says Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann.

Die Leistungsbilanz des Euro-Währungsgebiets wies im März 2017 einen Überschuss in Höhe von 34,1 Mrd € auf (siehe Tabelle 1). Dahinter verbargen sich Aktivsalden im Warenhandel (29,0 Mrd €), bei den Dienstleistungen (11,6 Mrd €) und beim Primäreinkommen (3,4 Mrd €), die teilweise durch ein Defizit beim Sekundäreinkommen (9,8 Mrd €) aufgezehrt wurden.

Uneinheitliche Entwicklungen unterstreichen die Bedeutung einer ambitionierten Kapitalmarktunion und einer Vollendung der Bankenunion. Neuer qualitativer Indikator deutet auf begrenzte grenzüberschreitende Teilung von Risiken im Privatsektor hin. Die Erhöhung der Anzahl gesamteuropäisch agierender Banken könnte die Finanzmarktintegration fördern und die Risikoteilung über Kreditmärkte im Privatkundengeschäft unterstützen.

At a celebratory event to mark the 60th anniversary of the Bundesbank, Executive Board member Andreas Dombret highlighted the German central bank's regional ties. Malu Dreyer, the Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, was among the guests at the Bundesbank's Regional Office in Mainz.

The Bundesbank has launched its special exhibition "Guardian of the currency – 60 years of the Bundesbank in the eyes of the media". At the opening ceremony, Otmar Issing, formerly chief economist at the Bundesbank and the European Central Bank, discussed the role and tasks of central bank communications with representatives from the German media.

In the view of Andreas Dombret, Executive Board member of the Bundesbank, the robust governance of the banking sector can help restore market forces and foster confidence. However, he pointed out that supervisors' and regulators' area of competence also has boundaries. "The red line has to be drawn where entrepreneurial responsibility and market forces should prevail," Mr Dombret said in an address to the Savings Bank Conference in Potsdam.
