    In the first half of 2023, the Bundesbank withdrew approximately 26,700 counterfeit euro banknotes with a nominal value of just under €2.9 million from circulation in Germany. This was 10% more counterfeit banknotes than in the second half of 2022. The number of counterfeit €200 and €500 banknotes rose in particular. “The incidence of counterfeit banknotes is still low, however. Statistically speaking, there were six counterfeit banknotes per 10,000 inhabitants,” stated Burkhard Balz, the Bundesbank Executive Board member responsible for cash management.

    Aus einer heute von der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) veröffentlichten Datenerhebung geht hervor, dass sich die unrealisierten Verluste (netto) in den Anleihebeständen der von ihr beaufsichtigten Banken im Euroraum im Februar 2023 auf rund 73 Mrd. € beliefen. Die unrealisierten Verluste aus diesen zu fortgeführten Anschaffungskosten erfassten Wertpapieren halten sich in ihrem Betrag somit insgesamt in Grenzen.

    Dem Ergebnis des Stresstests zufolge würde die CET1-Quote der von der EZB beaufsichtigten Banken durch drei Jahre starken wirtschaftlichen Stress um 4,8 Prozentpunkte auf 10,4 % sinken. Dank höherer Aktivaqualität und Rentabilität blieben Banken auch unter extrem ungünstigen Bedingungen widerstandsfähig. Stresstest umfasste 98 (57 große und 41 mittelgroße) Banken des Euroraums, die direkt von der EZB beaufsichtigt werden.

Bis 2023 hat sie den Gesamtverbrauch von Energie, Wasser und Papier weiter gesenkt. 2024 wurden weitere Maßnahmen eingeleitet, darunter die Reduktion von Büroflächen durch die Einführung flexibler Arbeitsmodelle. Die Grundlagen der Datenerfassung wurden verbessert, um dadurch zielgerichtetere Maßnahmen zur Erreichung der Ziele einzuleiten.
