Germany’s gross external debt amounted to €7.1 trillion at the end of the first quarter 2025; relative to gross domestic product (GDP) it increased in the period under review.

The war in the Middle East is weighing on the German economy and will initially slow down the recovery that began in the winter half-year, the Bundesbank’s latest Forecast for Germany states. Nevertheless, Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel is confident: Economic activity will gain traction again over our forecast horizon up to 2028, he said when presenting the Bundesbank’s new Forecast for Germany. The forecast projects that the inflation rate will rise to almost 3% in 2026 and 2027, only returning to just below 2% in 2028.

Die Leistungsbilanz des Euroraums wies in den vier Quartalen bis zum ersten Quartal 2026 einen Überschuss von 275 Mrd. € auf (1,7 % des BIP im Euroraum), verglichen mit einem Überschuss von 352 Mrd. € (2,3 % des BIP) ein Jahr zuvor 

Der Ausschuss für Finanzstabilität (AFS) legt seinen dreizehnten Bericht an den Deutschen Bundestag. Der AFS befasste sich mit der Entwicklung der Risikolage und der Widerstandsfähigkeit im deutschen Finanzsystem sowie mit der Angemessenheit des makroprudenziellen Maßnahmenpakets.
