In the first half of 2021, the Bundesbank recorded approximately 21,400 counterfeit euro banknotes with a nominal value of €1 million. This represents a decline of 13% compared with the second half of 2020. This is due to the coronavirus restrictions, said Bundesbank Executive Board member Johannes Beermann.

Die Europäische Zentralbank (EZB) begrüßt das Vorhaben von 16 europäischen Banken zur Gründung der European Payments Initiative. At present, however, the economy is on a recovery path and is expected to grow steeply in the third quarter.

The German banks responding to the Bank Lending Survey (BLS) once again tightened their credit standards for loans to enterprises somewhat in the first quarter of 2021. Standards remained unchanged for loans to households for house purchase, and they were eased marginally for consumer credit and other lending to households.
