Objective

Machine learning is revolutionizing the financial sector, offering powerful tools for data analysis and informed decision-making. This course is designed for experienced professionals looking to harness these methods within their organization.

The course consists of an agile development workshop in which participants further develop their research or analytical use cases and address the conceptual and practical challenges associated with their implementation. It features hands-on ideation, programming, and collaboration sessions, including feedback from the moderators and peer-groups. Throughout the course, participants are expected to regularly present their progress, share their insights, and provide feedback to peers.

The online part will guide participants in drafting a one-pager describing a selected use case in their domain, which they will develop during the workshop.

This course provides a forum for central bankers, regulators, and supervisors to discuss strategies for developing and implementing use cases that leverage advanced machine learning methods. It presents a unique setting for exchanging knowledge and fostering collaborative innovation.

Target group

The course is aimed at data-savvy central bankers, regulators and supervisors in areas such as information technology and statistics, or research departments interested in implementing machine learning methods.

Requirements

Participants are expected to actively contribute to the discussions. They will be asked to present their use case and provide feedback on the projects presented by other participants.

1. Use case: Participation requires you to submit and present a use case for implementing machine learning in your jurisdiction. You will further develop this use case during the workshop. After registration, we will contact all applicants and ask them to provide a brief description of their use case or project. If you would like to bring one additional colleague to Frankfurt to help further develop and present the project as a team, please indicate this in your application.
2. Technical requirements: Please bring your own device to the workshop and ensure that Python is installed and working properly so that you can work locally. Please also bring any sample data you intend to use for your use case and ensure that it is accessible on your device.
3. Language and software skills: Participants should have a good command of English and sound knowledge of data analysis and statistical software, including Python commands.
