Reporting on loans of €1 million or more
Reporting undertakings are required to report loans of €1 million or more to the Bundesbank on a quarterly basis pursuant to Section 14 of the Banking Act (Kreditwesengesetz – KWG). Loans of €1 million or more to an individual borrower or a single borrower unit have to be reported to the Bundesbank. Reports on amount details can be submitted on the Bundesbank’s ExtraNet platform or entered via the reporting platform. Master data on individual borrowers and borrower units must be submitted on paper pursuant to Annexes 2 and 6 of the Regulation Governing Large Exposures and Loans of €1 Million or More (Großkredit- und Millionenkreditverordnung – GroMiKV). The Bundesbank’s central credit register of loans of €1 million or more uses the reported loans of €1 million or more to determine total debt per borrower and borrower unit. Lenders are then informed of the total debt of their borrowers in a return notification.
