Der Rat der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) hat beschlossen, Änderungen an der Fazilität des Eurosystems für Übernachtkredite umzusetzen, die gemäß der TARGET-Leitlinie als krisenbezogene Liquiditätsabsicherung für zugelassene zentrale Gegenparteien (central counterparties – CCPs) im Euroraum dient. 

Chemnitz is the European Capital of Culture 2025. To mark the occasion, the Regional Office in Saxony and Thuringia is organising a range of events at the Bundesbank’s Chemnitz branch. In addition to a coin exhibition and an art exhibition, there will be a panel discussion with Bundesbank Executive Board member Burkard Balz.

The Governing Council of the ECB has shortlisted the motifs for the two possible themes for future euro banknotes: “European culture: shared cultural spaces” and “Rivers and birds: resilience in diversity”. The selected motifs include Ludwig van Beethoven, Marie Curie and Leonardo da Vinci. “Rivers and birds” included a kingfisher in a waterfall, a white stork flying over a river valley and a wallcreeper next to a mountain landscape. The ECB is expected to make the final decision on the designs of the new banknotes in 2026.
