Bundesbankpräsident Jens Weidmann hat die Verdienste des scheidenden Gouverneurs der Österreichischen Nationalbank, Ewald Nowotny, gewürdigt. „Was der EZB-Rat braucht, ist Erfahrung und Eigenständigkeit im Urteil und damit hat Ewald Nowotny den Rat stets bereichert“, sagte er bei einer Rede in Wien.

Patricia Staab wird zum 1. Oktober 2019 neue Präsidentin der Bundesbank-Hauptverwaltung in Baden-Württemberg. Sie folgt auf Bernhard Sibold, der nach 39 Jahren bei der Bundesbank in den Ruhestand geht. Jens Weidmann gratulierte ihnen bei einer Feier in Stuttgart und sprach dabei auch über die aktuelle EZB-Ratsentscheidung.
