The G7 is an informal club of seven of the world's most advanced industrial economies (Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom). The Bundesbank has a particular interest in issues concerning the policies pursued by international financial institutions and the stability and integrity of the international financial and monetary system.

By way of majority, the National Cash Forum advocates rounding up or down to the nearest 5 euro cent for cash payments in Germany. The Federal Ministry of Finance is called upon to advocate for, and press ahead with, a binding statutory rounding rule in Germany. The rounding rule should be applied across Europe as uniformly as possible.

Various fake reports, advertisements, photos and videos in connection with the Bundesbank are circulating on the internet and social media. In addition, fraudsters are impersonating Bundesbank staff on the phone, in emails and letters and requesting, for example, that personal data be handed over or payments be made. The Bundesbank is providing important pointers on this topic to help recipients identify such fake reports and attempted fraud. 

Durch das Kreditzweitmarktgesetz (KrZwMG) wird die Kreditzweitmarktrichtlinie in Deutschland umgesetzt. Das Erbringen von Dienstleistungen im Rahmen des Verkaufs von Kreditforderungen ist damit als neuer Aufsichtstatbestand erlaubnispflichtig.

Im Januar 2025 wies die Leistungsbilanz einen Überschuss von 35 Mrd. € auf (nach 38 Mrd. € im Vormonat).

According to the current Monthly Report, access to cash in Germany is currently largely secure despite the progressive reduction in ATMs and bank branches. For example, the majority of the population has access to an ATM or bank counter within five kilometres, although urban areas are noticeably better served than rural areas. The Bank’s experts write that, in order for the freedom of choice between cash and digital means of payment to endure, infrastructure for the supply of cash must remain intact in future. 

How does central bank communication affect the economy? Artificial intelligence provides new insights: the Monetary-Intelligent Language Agent (MILA) model developed at the Bundesbank analyses monetary policy statements and assesses the signals they send out – from restrictive to accommodative. This presents promising opportunities for better shaping monetary policy messaging. But AI-assisted analyses also pose inherent risks, such as diminishing diversity of opinion.
