Die Ersparnisbildung (netto) im Euroraum verringerte sich in den vier Quartalen bis zum dritten Quartal 2020 auf 534 Mrd €, verglichen mit 618 Mrd € im Vorquartal. Die Verschuldung der privaten Haushalte im Verhältnis zum Einkommen erhöhte sich im dritten Quartal 2020 auf 95,7 %, verglichen mit 93,5 % ein Jahr zuvor. Die Verschuldung der nichtfinanziellen Kapitalgesellschaften im Verhältnis zum BIP (konsolidierte Messgröße) lag im dritten Quartal 2020 bei 83,8 %, verglichen mit 79,3 % im dritten Jahresviertel 2019.

Growth in labour productivity in the euro area has slowed significantly over the past 20 years. This was not least due to structural factors, the Bundesbank explains in its current Monthly Report. Aus der Befragung im Rahmen des von der EZB durchgeführten Survey of Professional Forecasters (SPF) für das erste Quartal 2021 ergaben sich für die jährliche HVPI-Inflation in den Jahren 2021, 2022 und 2023 Punktprognosen von im Schnitt 0,9 %, 1,3 % bzw. 1,5 %.

2020 wurden etwa 460 000 gefälschte Euro-Banknoten aus dem Verkehr gezogen, 220 000 davon im zweiten Halbjahr. Gegenüber 2019 stellt dies einen Rückgang um 17,7 % dar.

In 2020, the Bundesbank registered approximately 58,800 counterfeit euro banknotes with a nominal value of €2.9 million in German payments. The number of counterfeits thus rose by 6.5% on the year, while the nominal value of the banknotes seized fell by 14.3%.

Der Beginn der Impfkampagnen im gesamten Euroraum ist ein wichtiger Meilenstein bei der Bewältigung der derzeitigen Gesundheitskrise. Dennoch birgt die Pandemie nach wie vor ernsthafte Risiken für das Gesundheitswesen und für die Wirtschaft des Euroraums sowie die Weltwirtschaft.
