Professor Claudia Buch today assumed her office as Deputy President of the Deutsche Bundesbank. At its subsequent meeting, the Bundesbank's Executive Board decided on the following allocation of responsibilities, which will take effect immediately.

The Executive Board of the Bundesbank has adopted a new medium-term strategy, in which four universal strategic objectives for the Bank as a whole have been formulated for the first time. The strategy is preceded by a mission statement, which constitutes the longer-term roadmap for the Bundesbank and serves as a guide for its employees.

The Bundesbank posted a profit of €5.8 billion for the 2019 financial year. Following adjustment of the reserves, the Bank also registered its highest distributable profit since 2008, at €5.9 billion, up from the previous year’s €2.4 billion. The Bundesbank has transferred the profit in full to the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Michael Best leitet ab dem 1. Oktober 2011 den Zentralbereich Kommunikation der Deutschen Bundesbank. Er tritt damit die Nachfolge von Dr. Benedikt Fehr an, der seit August dem neuen Zentralbereich Ökonomische Bildung vorsteht.
