A well functioning economy requires a stable banking system. Banking supervision is therefore responsible for monitoring credit institutions’ business activity and maintaining investor confidence. In Germany, the task of financial supervision is shared by the Bundesbank and the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin).
