A well functioning economy requires a stable banking system. Banking supervision is therefore responsible for monitoring credit institutions’ business activity and maintaining investor confidence. In Germany, the task of banking supervision is shared by the Bundesbank and the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). In particular, the Bundesbank is in charge of monitoring the credit institutions.

Banking supervision in Germany is carried out by the Bundesbank in cooperation with the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority and the Federal Ministry of Finance as well as external auditors and audit offices of the banking associations.

The €5 collectors' coin with an green plastic ring was issued in September 2019. It was minted on behalf of the German government and is the third in a five-part series, “Climate zones of the Earth” (2017-21).

The Bundesbank’s RPS SEPA-Clearer provides a competitively neutral, high-performance and cost-effective payment procedure for the processing of SEPA payments. When processing submitted payments, a distinction is made between SEPA credit transfers and SEPA direct debits, as well as  SCC card payment.

Through its academic survey, the Research Centre of the Deutsche Bundesbank is obtaining a picture of the current situation among firms in Germany and gaining greater insight into their expectations for the coming months. Over time, the survey also provides crucial information on changes within the corporate sector.

The German government has decided to mint a €5 collectors’ coin entitled “Seven-spot ladybird”, to be issed ar 9 March 2023.

The five-part series of €5 collector coins with a coloured polymer ring, entitled “Climate zones of the Earth”, is thematically linked to the first innovative €5 collector coin “Planet Earth” (a global premiere with its blue polymer ring), which was issued in April 2016.

The German government has decided to mint a €10 collector coin entitled “Care”, to be issued on 12 May 2022.

The so-called Blessing letter, dated 30 March 1967, forms part of the correspondence between the President of the Deutsche Bundesbank at the time, Karl Blessing, and the then Chairman of the Board of Governors of the US Federal Reserve System, William Martin. Blessing addresses US concerns that the Bundesbank might convert US dollars into gold on a massive scale.
