Zum Beispiel die Maya, eine der ältesten Kulturen Mittelamerikas, tauschten Kakaobohnen gegen Nahrungsmittel und Kleidungsstücke. Was Geld ausmacht und womit man noch bezahlen kann, erklärt Moderatorin Silviana Ursu im dritten Teil unserer Serie aus dem Geldmuseum.

The NGFS released a report entitled “Adapting central bank operations to a hotter world: Reviewing some options” which assesses nine options available to central banks to factor climate-related risks into their operational framework. Sabine Mauderer, Chair of the NGFS’ “Scaling-up green finance” workstream and executive board member of the Deutsche Bundesbank: “Central banks ought to be aware of climate risks for the integrity of their balance sheets. Even more so, they should get ready to respond to such risks swiftly and with determination. Our report is a great blueprint to support central banks in making strategic choices on how to reflect climate risk in their monetary policy operations.” 

Deutsche Bundesbank together with Deutsche Börse Group and Germany’s Finance Agency have developed and successfully tested a settlement interface for electronic securities. Securities settlement using distributed ledger technology (DLT) is performed with the aid of a trigger solution in TARGET2.

Es gibt zwar erfolgreiche Zahlungssysteme aus Europa – wie zum Beispiel die girocard in Deutschland – diese funktionieren aber vielfach nur national. Wie könnte der Zahlungsverkehr in Europa einheitlicher und besser ablaufen?

Erstmals seit 1979 hat die Bundesbank keinen Gewinn erzielt. Bundesbankpräsident Jens Weidmann erklärt in einer virtuellen Pressekonferenz warum das so ist und was das mit der Corona-Pandemie zu tun hat. 

Die wirtschaftlichen Aussichten hängen auch in diesem Jahr stark von der weiteren Entwicklung der Corona-Pandemie ab. Was das für die deutsche Wirtschaft bedeutet erklärt Bundesbankpräsident Jens Weidmann in der Pressekonferenz.

Die Corona-Pandemie hatte im vergangenen Jahr auch Auswirkungen auf die Bundesbank-Bilanz. Obwohl die Bilanzsumme so hoch war wir noch nie, hat die Bundesbank erstmals seit 1979 keinen Gewinn mehr erzielt. Wie es dazu kommt, erklärt Bundesbankvorstand Johannes Beermann.

Die Bundesbank schüttet für 2020 keinen Gewinn aus – zum ersten Mal seit 1979. Der Hauptgrund hierfür sei die erhöhte Risikovorsorge, sagte Bundesbankpräsident Jens Weidmann bei der Vorstellung des Jahresabschlusses in Frankfurt am Main. Die geldpolitischen Krisenmaßnahmen in der Corona-Pandemie schlagen sich damit deutlich in der Bilanz der Bundesbank nieder. Im Vorjahr hatte die Gewinnausschüttung 5,9 Milliarden Euro betragen.

Viele Menschen freuten sich über die neuen Scheine und Münzen, doch es gab auch kritische Stimmen.
 

Im täglichen Leben begegnen uns regelmäßig Begriffe mit „Zins“ im Namen. Doch was sind Zinsen eigentlich genau und welchen Einfluss haben sie? Den wichtigsten Zinsbegriffen und Zusammenhängen wollen wir im Erklärfilm auf den Grund gehen.

Die Bundesbank hat im Jahr 2020 rund 58.800 falsche Euro-Banknoten im  Nennwert von 2,9 Millionen Euro registriert. Vor allem 10- und 20-Euro-Banknoten wurden gefälscht.

Im Nationalen Analysezentrum der Deutschen Bundesbank in Mainz gehen pro Jahr etwa 30.000 Anträge für den Ersatz von beschädigtem Bargeld ein. Um die Rekonstruktion in Fällen mit sehr vielen Banknotenfragmenten zu erleichtern, hat die Bundesbank gemeinsam mit dem Fraunhofer Institut für Produktionsanlagen und Kommunikationstechnik den sogenannten ePuzzler entwickelt.

Die aktuelle Lage und die Perspektiven der deutschen Wirtschaft werden entscheidend von der Coronavirus-Pandemie geprägt, schreibt die Bundesbank. Mit dem verringerten Infektionsgeschehen und den Lockerungen der Eindämmungsmaßnahmen habe sich die deutsche Wirtschaft im dritten Quartal dieses Jahres stark erholt. Im Winterhalbjahr 2020/21 dürfte die wirtschaftliche Erholung aufgrund der im Herbst erneut aufgeflammten Pandemie zunächst jedoch unterbrochen werden. Eine vergleichbar starke Beeinträchtigung wie im Frühjahr 2020 sei aber nicht zu erwarten.
